According to the UNDP Resident Coordinator, Albania is now the second biggest investment market in the region, with foreign investment exceeding $1 billion in 2010. Albania’s boost follows success in Bulgaria, as more investors are attracted to the area's growing market.

Bulgaria, currently one of the top ten most popular destinations for property buyers, has seen construction on the up in 2011, as well as an increase in real estate transactions. Other countries in The Balkans, such as Bosnia Herzegovina and Macedonia, have also reported an increase in tourist enquiries.
